Disturbed lipid profile in common variable immunodeficiency – a pathogenic loop of inflammation and metabolic disturbances

The relationship between metabolic and inflammatory pathways play a pathogenic role in various cardiometabolic disorders is potentially also involved the pathogenesis of other such as cancer, autoimmunity infectious diseases. Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) most common primary adults, characterized by increased frequency airway infections with capsulated bacteria. In addition, large proportion CVID patients have autoimmune complications associated systemic inflammation. We summarize evidence that support bidirectional interaction inflammation disturbances CVID. This include low levels function high-density lipoprotein (HDL), high triglycerides (TG) its major very low-density (VLDL), an unfavorable fatty acid (FA) profile. dysregulation TG, VLDL FA were linked to disturbed gut microbiota profile, TG strongly lipopolysaccharides (LPS), marker leakage blood. Of note, lipid profile did not total cholesterol or levels. Furthermore, blood diet, body mass index liver steatosis, suggesting different phenotype than traditional cardiovascular risk syndrome. hypothesize these are manner potential contributing factor.
